**** IMPORTANT NEWS ****
UPDATED OCTOBER 2024
Unfortunately, our rear door was forced open by the firefighters and our front window was broken. We had smoke damage in our office and the electrical power in the entire building was shut off as a precaution. The tenant below suffered extensive damage and will be closed for a while.
At 3am, we had our door and window temporarily secured. The rest of the week we had Insurance Adjusters, Restoration and cleaning companies working to get us back on track. We’re still waiting for our door and window to get fixed but we’re operating as normal and didn’t have to close the business at all.
We will probably not use our own insurance since our damage is well under our deductible. Our landlord’s insurance will pay for the door and window and some cleaning.
This isn’t the first time we’ve suffered a loss – we had the gas explosion next door in 2008 and B&E’s and other small losses in the past. But this is a good reminder to be prepared for the worse and review your insurance regularly.
