DO I NEED INSURANCE IF I’M JUST GOING SHOPPING OVER THE BORDER FOR THE DAY?
Definitely!
An injury or illness occurring “just over the line” will still be a huge expense. Simply call our office and we can issue a Travel/Medical plan for you in minutes. The Minimum premium is $16.
WHAT EXCLUSIONS ON MY TRAVEL INSURANCE POLICY SHOULD I BE AWARE OF?
There are 21 exclusions on TIC’s Excess Medical travel insurance plan and ideally, you should be aware of all of them. But here are the ones we feel are the most important:
1. “Pre-existing Illness exclusion”: Any illness or injury which you have been treated for in the past may not be covered if it reoccurs during your trip. This exclusion depends on the traveller’s age, length of trip and other factors so please read the policy for the details.
2. Loss, death or injury if contributed by the use of alcohol, prohibited drugs or other intoxicants.
3. Travelling against the advice of a physician.
4. Dental or cosmetic surgery unless such emergency surgery is a result of a covered injury.
5. certain coverages while travelling in a country where the Dept of Foreign Affairs has advised not to travel.
These are just samples of the 21 exclusions. For a detailed explanation, please refer to the policy wordings on the TIC website or call our office.
I TRAVEL OUTSIDE B.C. FREQUENTLY. WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO COVER ME?
We recommend an Annual Travel Medical plan which can cover you for unlimited number of trips during the year. So you won’t have to arrange the insurance each time you go away. We have plans for trips 8 days or less, 15 days or less, up to 105 days or less. The cost starts at $42/year.
